Announced Latgale NGO project programme 2017

South Latgale NGO Support Centre this year On 21 February, the “Latgale NGO Project Programme 2017” is launched, which aims to promote civil society initiatives, citizens' participation and intercultural dialogue, including the work of minorities in Latgale planning region. A total of 24 000 EURO is available for the competition, divided into three areas of support:
The support projects for civil society initiatives (8 000 EURO), which promote the development of civil society initiatives and the participation of citizens, by providing support to non-governmental organisations of the region and promoting mutual co-operation, contributing to the achievement of the Latvian national centennial celebration “to strengthen the state of Latvia's society and sense of belonging to its country, encouraging self-organizing processes and co-operation”, supporting activities:
- the involvement of local people in improving the conditions and quality of their community life by promoting human, Community and national growth and sustainability, involving municipalities, libraries, cultural centres, museums, educational institutions;
- the study of the development of stationality, the study of development and preservation history and the modern communication of its results in its neighbourhood;
- the identification and inspiration of talents, excellence, susceptibility and achievements of Latvian people;
- strengthening intergenerational links by taking an equal initiative and responsibility for children and young people;
For support projects for intercultural dialogue (EUR 8 000)
- strengthening mutual understanding, stereotyping, involvement of representatives of different nationalities in activities aimed at cohesion and inclusive civic participation;
Minority NGO support projects (8000 EURO)
- promote the preservation and development of minority identity and cultural heritage by supporting the development of creative collective activities of various minorities, the development of minority traditions and folklore;
- promote the civic participation and cooperation of minorities;
- promote the integration and participation of the Roma community of Latvia, including the promotion of cooperation between the Roma Community and the local government and/or social partners, taking into account the national Roma integration policy package as well as supporting the preservation of the Roma community's cultural identity and intercultural dialogue.
- non-governmental organisations of minorities within the meaning of this Regulation are: the organisation is managed and operates national minorities living in Latvia. The organisation's previous activity focuses on the civic participation of representatives of national minorities living in Latvia and the preservation of their cultural and identity, or other activities that salute and combine national minorities in Latvia. The activities to be supported are those in which both minorities and representatives of the basic nation are actively involved.
For one project maximum eur 3000,00, the deadline for submitting projects is 21 March 2017 pl.: 16:00. The tender rules, the application form and the evaluation criteria are available on the website www.nvoc.lv and www.latgale.lv.
The project takes place in the framework of the agreement concluded between the MINISTRY of Culture of THE LR and the association “South Latgale NGO Support Centre” on the performance of individual public administration tasks in the field of civil society development and intercultural dialogue (2.5-8-18).
