Culture

On 18 and 19 May, a festival of Liv village was held in Liepaja, where we were invited to participate in we - Dricānu youth dance collective “Jumalēni” and manager Sylvia Bookta. These festivals are the largest traditional cultural event in Kurzeme. With pleasure and pride, we accepted the invitation because we were the only dance collective entrusted to represent Latgale.
We went on the road from Friday to Saturday to get to a long time in Liepaja. On the first day of the event we took two concerts. “Vysa Muna ustoben” from the evening concert would certainly be the most vivid memory, as it was danced in thunder, strong wind and rain. We arrived in the hostel, sun-burned red, soaked completely wet, but happy!
On the second day of the event, of course, we took the opportunity and went to the excursion along Liepaja – we were at the sea, where some of the brave dancers came back into the cool water, surveyed the northern mole, visited the war port, walked around the premises of the concert hall 'big Dzintars, as well as comparing their and celebrity palms in the alley of Latvian musicians. And when the last concert was danced, the long way home was approaching.
We spent these days beautiful! We got out of our daily jobs and our duties and enjoyed the Liepāja atmosphere. Thank you very much to our leader Sylvia Bokta, whose work was based on the fact that Liv village organisers chose exactly our collective, thanks also TO THE Dricānu parish administration, who supported us both by transport and providing us with two drivers for a long and long journey!
