At the end of November, three Kaunatas secondary school teachers: Evita Cairièche, the teacher of the information and mathematics teacher, the chemistry teacher Žanna Kistere and project coordinator Anita Klismete, visited the Bulgarian city Vidin to participate in Project 1 No 2019-1-BG01-KA229-062359_6.
Kaunatas Visusskola is involved in the Erasmus + programme for school exchange partnerships coordinated by Bulgaria. Together with other partner schools from Italy, Serbia, Romania and Portugal, the school will operate in a two-year project “the da Vinci Code”. The main objective of the project is the involvement of pupils in interdisciplinary learning hours and the development and implementation of project-based tasks. As part of the technology year, this project is very important FOR THE secondary school OF Kaunatas because it is directly linked to the use of competencies-based learning ideas and methods in learning and out-of-hour work. In addition, Kaunatas secondary school teachers will have the opportunity to present their own and experience the experience of other European schools IN STEM learning subjects and interdisciplinary approaches.
The first meeting discussed the objectives and tasks of the project, shared responsibilities and responsibility for the implementation of the project. Each participating school presented an example of good practice in an interdisciplinary study hour or project context. The guests had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with interdisciplinary experience in science education through the Scientix portal, which is the largest project of the European Schools network, all willing to participate in the study of secret boxes, solar watches, spectrometers etc.
The representatives of the participating schools jointly developed a single interdisciplinary hour plan that will be used when establishing interdisciplinary lessons at each participating school.
During the last day of the project meeting, teachers participated in improvised interdisciplinary lessons: art and STEM, as well as “breaking room” (Escape Room). During the sessions, participants shared their experience in organising interdisciplinary lessons, discussing the plushes of this approach, pointing to the problems to be addressed. All this will contribute to the professional competence of teachers and improve the learning process in the future.
The next project meeting will take place IN Kaunatā in 2020 from 11 May to 15 May. Kaunatas High School will receive 30 foreign guests (20 pupils and 10 teachers). The main theme of the project will be: STEM, interdisciplinary school hour, da Vinci discoveries and the use of ideas today.
The project is financed by the European Commission
