On April 22, THE “Latvian Robotics Championship RTA 2018” was held in the multifunctional hall OF Maltas organised by the Faculty of Engineering of the Rēzekne Technology Academy (RTA) in collaboration with the Rēzekne District Council. Both representatives from Latvia and Lithuania participated in it.
THE Kaunatas High School was represented by the members of the team “white birds” 7. The most recent members of Lego Robotics - Rinalds Paramonovs (Class 1a-Lego sumo), Gustav Gabriel Mikelis and Thomas Decterev (class 2a-line-tracking) started their first time. In preparation for the competition they were assisted by the older members of the group who participated in these categories for a second year. The older class students, Maigurs Chanu-Chivars, Roland Decterev, and Arthur Zelch (class 7a) and Richard Raitis Mikelis (class 4a) were tested IN VEX competitions. With advice and encouragement, they had the LEGO Robotic Teacher Evita Cairiah. With a great interest in exciting competitions, the four first-anniversary of the robotic group (1 st-2 nd class students) were also followed, who are already willing to participate in the next competitions as well. When the time spent on the competition was over, everyone could try their skills in any of the disciplines offered.
Although this time “white birds” did not win the prizes (but they were not the last), both the pupils and the teacher returned home with a sense of satisfaction, as the first robots in the hands of the younger pupils had been tested, there was a broader view of the possibilities and, above all, the interest in LEGO's robotics was further strengthened.
Thank all the supporters, including the Rēzekne District Council for the rusty lunch for participants and Kaunatas for the local government for transport!
