On the morning of June 5, on the morning of June 5, Rēzekne and Viļānu, the participants of the competition “erudites”, took up the competition – this time to Lithuania.
First stop of the trip – Ignalina, restaurant – bakery “Romina”. Here, a Lithuanian traditional cake “shakotis” is baked on open fire, which roses every Lithuanian wedding table and tastes like home wafers. While the bakers told us about the history and preparation of this cake, all young people could enjoy two types of “shakotis” – white and brown. Then we had to take part in the next “shakotis” baking. The process itself is not difficult but requires much time and patience. The co-ordinated “shakotis” was given to us in a gift and was sentenced to home.
The Lithuanian Etno cosmological museum, which is the first and only museum of this kind in the world, was expected to meet us. Here, young people are familiar with the various human and human links with the space world, including different world visions, calendar, astronomy, various early-time everyday objects whose decorations reflect the relationship of ancient people to space and the universe. We also climbed 32 metres in the high view area, from which an impressive view of six lakes and Liboro forests opened.
Then we went to the last planned excursion site – the tree crown trail in Anyischos. At the height of the trail trees at the height of 300 metres and steadily rise at 21 meters height, it is closed by a 34 metres high view tower. As we walked along the path, we could feel the fascination of Anyisch's warmth to enjoy the narrative of the diversity and usefulness of trees. For example, the birch is regarded as a “elixoner” tree, so it is necessary to drink a birch juice and a new buds tea; if you want to regain the soul balance and calm down, you must go to the pine forest; the oak is considered a holy tree, a force can be drawn from it. We climbed into the tree trail in the tower, where the whole of the Svener (the longest river in Lithuania) was panorama, as well as the towers of the Church of the Higher Two-Tower Of Lithuania.
Positive emotions and new knowledge came back home. The excursion to Lithuania was one of the most mixed events of this summer. It is a pleasure that thanks to the support of the municipality of Rezekne, it was possible to explore our neighbourhood, its history and culture.
