Interactions of cultural traditions in Latgale
From March 2, this year, the People's Musicist Society, in collaboration with the association “Rogovskis” and “Rēzekne City Theatre-studio“ Joriks ”,“ has started to implement the project “cultural roots”, which is financially supported by the association “Southern Latgale NGO Support Centre” within the framework of Latgale NGO projects programme intercultural dialogue/minority initiatives within the framework of the sub-programme.
The activities of the project “cultural root” will take place in both Rezekne (National Society of Cultural and Rēzekne) and the municipality of Rezekne IN Nautrēnu parish, attracting participants from Viļānu city and municipality, in such a way as to search for co-relationships in a sufficiently broad area and building a deeper understanding of the diversity of cultural traditions in Latgale region, their interactions and viability in the modern cultural environment.
At the beginning of the project – on 14 and 28 March, 11 and 18 April – a practice workshop for the acquisition of traditional culture will be held at Rezekne High School, where the leaders and participants of ethnic minorities, teachers of educational institutions interest education, the leaders and participants of the Latvian traditional culture collective, as well as educators of interest education will participate.
Within the framework of the project, a seminar of experience exchange “positive experience evening” will be held on 16 May, when the participants in the project will share best practice examples of their major achievements, their transfer to society, major projects and future development opportunities. Special attention will be paid to the familiarisation of the cultural house of the Rēzekne National Society, where the homes are used by various ethnic minorities and who will agree on a joint People's Music concert.
At the end of the project – 30 May – Musicans of various nationalities, project participants and all stakeholders will meet in the vecherinka “O, bobbie!” Nautrēnu parish in Rogovka. It will be possible to hear stories about musical music in a rural cultural environment, to explore the musical instruments of different peoples and their usage in Latgale, as well as to depart while musicists from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are musical.
