Rural Library Support Society annual final event in Salacgriva

On December 5, Rēzekne and Viļānu novadu 13. The festival organisers were invited to the 2014 campaign “Support for Rural Libraries” at the “big reader prize 2014” in Salacgrîva City Cultural House. With this event, the Rural Library Support Society (LBAB) thanked the festival organisers throughout Latvia. In 2014, 20 book festival events took place in various regions of Latvia. Each year, librarians, local government employees, library supporters, major book publishers, and book authors, designators, artists are gathered.
The event was directed by Andris Boaris and Kristaps Menniks. LBAB's leader, Biruta's spruce, said with satisfaction, “When we started it, neither the people themselves nor anyone else thought that the movement would be so long, but the association had been doing his work for thirteen years.” She emphasized that she received 707 Latvian libraries this year, a total of 93 thousand euros, and many more books will come to her readers in rural libraries.
The competition “big reader prize” for the most read books took place for the tenth time.
Seven nominations were set for awarding: original prose, original poetry, translated fiction, children's original literature, translated children's literature, documentary and scientifically popular original literature, translated documentary literature. For each of these, a “big reader prize 2014” was given to one of the most read books. The statistics collected from libraries on the most requested books that have come up in the last three years. This information was compiled by a jury consisting of library specialists from various Latvian provinces. The jury also consists of the work specialist of our municipality, Anastasia Belogubova. All the winners of the prize received ceramics Infloor jagged beacons.
The prize “big reader prize 2014” was presented by people familiar to the society, whose lives and work related to Salacgriva - Lilita Līce, Sylvia Radzobe, Gunta Luldak, Irina Thomson, Gints Schīmanis, Imants Khalis, Dzintris Colat. The order was enriched by a variety of genre musicians.
