August 1 to 3 – contemporary dance festival “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE” IN Lūznavas manor

This year, from August 1 to August 3, the contemporary dance project “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE” will travel to Rēzekne Municipality Lūznavas Manor, where a wide range of contemporary dance programs with environmental dance performances, exhibitions, behaviours and cinema will be offered to professionals, enthusiasts and stakeholders in a broad three-day programme.
The international contemporary dance festival “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE” has been held for six years, bringing together choreographs, dancers, musicians, dance enthusiasts and other artists and theorists associated with dance art. Over 50 environmental dance performances have been studied and shown over six years, more than 20 Latvian and foreign contemporary dance shows, masters and lessons have been led by more than 30 horeographs, dance and stage art theorists, practitioners and musicians, approximately 250 dance enthusiasts and local residents have participated in environmental dance workshops.
As the author of the story project, Lilly Lipora, “this year“ ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE ”will bring visitors and dance art lovers IN Lūznavas manor to inspire from Lūznavas music and its surroundings, create new works, create further creative cooperation, as well as promote the art of contemporary dance and its diversity”.
“Environmental dance is a unique festival not only in Latvia's dance environment but also outside Latvia. The unique and informal climate is phenomenal and it seems important to preserve this artistic freedom and the uncompressed atmosphere. The festival is a unique place where various contemporary dance dancers and horeographs are met to form joint environmental dance performances and collaborate outside the“ environmental dance ”festival. By dancing and serving dance in California, several dance professionals from THE US have expressed their willingness to visit Latvia and participate in the“ environmental dance ”festival", the “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE” story dancer Gunta Liepiņa.
In previous years, “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE” lived and received support in Ropaja municipality, as well as in the hearts of local residents. “I love the festival“ environmental dance ”, the best feedback about it... For performances -- sometimes it seems that dancers just come back and move, as if nothing is special, but i don't know what it is about strength, but it's its filled feeling, it's fascinating. Dancers adapt to the environment, you can join the dancers themselves and feel the dance they say. Through environmental dances, it is not possible to feel the cold that is at times in people, but only their affection and the mixture. The dance of the environment is a great fortune of Ropaja,” says Anna Buiķe, resident of Ropaja.
This year, the “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE” is travelling to another place of Latvia – the wonderful Lūznavas Manor and festival program from August 1 to 3, every interest in Lūznavas manor and its neighbourhood will be able to visit a dance film evening, a dance show, observe the created environmental dance performances, as well as watch the environmental dance performance in “Lūznavas reflection”, which, with the pre-show Lūznavas exhibition, was animated in the autumn of last year and was mentioned in the Latgalian cultural year “Boņuks 2016”.
The project “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE” will include professional horeographs (Catherine Albuže, Santa Kancevich, Lilly Lipora), professional dancers (Kate pumpkin, Reinis Rešetins, Gabia Bīriņa, etc.), as well as Lithuanian musician, composer, blow-instrument virtuous, multi-instrumentalist Saulius Petreikis, and his group, as well as Polish musician Marius Prašnievskis (Mariusz Praśniewski).
At the time OF “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE”, Lūznavas manor will also offer excursions, as well as the possibility to reserve a tent for accommodation in the customs territory. It is planned that the “ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE” of the next year's contemporary dance festival will be Lūznavas manor and its park.
