Nominations of the Latgalian cultural year “Boņuks 2019”, among them representatives of Rezekne municipality

The work of the jury has been completed by evaluating candidates for the Latgalian cultural year “Boņuks 2019”, and well known 30 awards. This year the prizes for activities, work and achievements in Latvian culture will be presented for the twelfth time. The ceremony will announce the recipient of the ten prizes “Boņuks 2019” and the recipient of the award for “a lifelong contribution to the development of Latgalian culture”. The award ceremony will be held on Sunday, 23 February, at 16.00 Latgale embassy GORE in the big hall.
Among the nominations are cultural people and events related to the Rēzekne municipality - festival Lūznavas in Manor “Skiun jazz”, Evalda Vasilevska memorial exhibition and book “Evalds Vasilevskis”, KUUP COFFEE owners Oscars and Jolanta Maculevičs, artist association V.I.V.A. and its activities throughout the year, exhibition “happiness formula in Latgale. V.I.V.A., a documentary film about Rosentova's congregation Rinald Barm“ Priesters ”(Latvian television, film program“ Latvian code ”), a documentary story by Anna Ranāne about the life of Cordirigent Teresis broke“ behind the Azara bolti barzi... ”.
Despite the concerns expressed in the beginning of the year about the future of the prize, the ceremony of this year's Latgalian cultural year “Boņuks” will take place and, as much as possible, the award of the prize will not stop at least for the time being. The leader of the Latgale Embassy GORE, who is the winner of the prize, says Diana Zirniņa, “although the end of the previous year and the beginning of that year have been the time of reflection and evaluation, but we are pleased with all the public support and interest that Boņuks has received. The decision of the National Cultural Capital Foundation experts led to further mobilisation of themselves, to engage in others and to think about the Latvian Year award“ Boņuks ”as a really important part of Latgalic culture. We are very grateful to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, who is actively participating in the development of local cultural spaces, seeking the opportunity to find their heroes in“ Boņuks 2019 ”. The prize will be presented for the 12 th time this year, and our willingness and purpose, like so far, are to raise its quality by strengthening the Latgalian self-awareness, encouraging it to do new things, building events and activities in Latgali. The“ Boņuks 2019 ”nominant spectrum is very broad in terms of both content and geography, which further demonstrates that it is not just a regional prize, that is the prize of Latgalic culture worldwide.”
The goal of the Latgalian cultural year is to gather the best, brightest and most important achievements and events in the last year in Latgalian culture, to honor the most active Latvian cultural representatives, promoters, as well as to promote and encourage the development of creativity and cultural diversity in the future. “Boņuks 2019” will be honoured for performance and made in 2019. The process for submitting and nominating candidates for prizes continued the previous year, without dividing individual nominations, but assessing the whole year's performance together. The award received almost 100 application questionnaires in the categories “language. Literature.“ Publication ”,“ audio. Video ”and“ activities. Events. Personalities, the total number of awards reached 80 different events, personalities, works, projects and other Activities. As the criteria for the evaluation of applicants were both the quality of the applicant's performance, the activity throughout the year, the region, the country or the wider-scale resonance, the latgalisky and/or the absence of the cultural values of Latgale, the sustainability of the applicant – the impact on the Latgalian cultural processes in the future.
The winner of the prize “for a lifelong contribution to the development of Latgalian culture” will be publicly announced in mid-February. In the “Boņuks 2019” jury Commission, ratings on bidders were given by a record number of members of the Commission of the jury that year – 52 Latgalian cultural managers, beneficiaries of previous years, media representatives, awards representatives, Latgalian cultural public activists and experts invited by the relevant sphere. Category “language. Literature.“ Publication ”was rated by 17 experts,“ audio. Video ”– 22 experts and“ activities. Events. Personalities' – 29 experts (more than one category had to be evaluated by several experts). The nominations submitted by the jury shall be evaluated in two stages – the first is a round of non-spot, which assesses all the candidates submitted, and the second is the round of the present, where the jury members discuss and evaluate the already 30 nominations on the spot in Rezekne. The “Boņuks” clay statuettes honoured those 10 applicants who have received the highest number of points together in both cards (50 % for a non-spot vote, second 50 % – for a decision of the present).

The ceremony of the celebration ceremony will take place on February 23, that year at 16.00 Latgale embassy GORE in the big hall. The ceremony is expected to be nominated by nominations, evaluation Commission, media representatives and any Latgalian cultural interest. The “Boņuks 2019” award was awarded this year to new leaders – Laurim Zalanam (“Ghetto Games” personality or the simplest Latgalian) and Armands Buļam (the doctor and the new hip-hop artist, Bours). In the ceremony, the post-folklore group “rikis”, the group “excluding VAT”, the Rēzekne blowing instrument orchestra and the men's choir “Gtransmi” with fragments from “Dzeivis graidi”, folklore set “river”, musician Dana Vasiljeva, folklore set “Ilja”, hip-hop artist Uga, and also allowing litter of the film “Piļsate pi river” in sound, singer Jānis Kurševs. Live shows will also be seen in the “LMT Stream” app this http://straume.lmt.lv/.
Before the Boņuks 2019 ceremony at 14.00 Latgale Embassy GORE calls for the opening of an exhibition dedicated to a painting, graphic and art scientist, Jurim Soikanam (1920 –1995), who was born in Latgale (Ludza), whose initiative is the 100 th anniversary of Soikana, who would circulate on 12 April of that year. The Latgalian cultural year “Boņuks” was first presented in 2009, but since 2013 the Award was organised by Latgale Embassy GORE team.
