Commemorative signs of the Chernobyl AES Emergency Library

On October 4 at 13.00 In the municipality of Rēzekne, a formal event will take place in which the memorial signs of the Chernobyl AES emergency will receive 85 emergency relief participants from Rēzekne, Ludza, Carsava, Dagda and Viļānu.
In the festive event, memorial signs will be given by Minister of Interior Rihards Kozlovskis. “Latvian Union Chernobyl” President Arnolds Arvaldis Verzemnieks and Vice-President of the Society Maris shops, as well as the management of Rezekne, Ludza and Carsava, will also participate in the event.
The commemorative mark of the Chernobyl AES emergency relief participants can be presented to persons who participated in the operations of the Chernobyl AES and which have been issued a SIA “Paula Stradins Clinical University Hospital” at the Chernobyl AES emergency relief participant's certificate.
So far, the commemorative signs of the Chernobyl AES accident have been given to 1457 emergency relief participants from all over Latvia. The festive events took place in both the Ministry of Interior and Latvian municipalities. The meetings of the commemorative mark have been held in Meadows, Jelgava, Kuldīga, Limapos, Valmiera, Gulbene, Madona, Talsi, Liepaja and Daugavpils.
A memorial mark may be granted to a Latvian citizen, a non-citizen, as well as a foreigner who has a permanent residence permit in Latvia. The Commission has the right to request information from the State of Citizenship and Migration Affairs regarding the nationality of the candidate for the memorial mark. If the awarding person is dead, the commemorative mark shall be given to his or her spouse or descendants, but if the top-down is not, then the nearest higher-ranking relatives or brothers and sisters.
Recommendations for the award of candidates shall be evaluated by an award approved by the Minister for the Interior, which consists of representatives from the Ministry of Interior and State Fire-fighting and Rescue Service, the Latvian Union Chernobyl, THE VSIA Paula Stradins Clinical University Hospital, and the Radiation Medical Centre.
