Exchange of experience to Kurzeme

The staff of the Rēzekne Municipal Development Planning Unit, as well as the municipalities of the municipality, went on 13 and 14 June to exchange experience on Kurzeme - Rucava and Hospital, as well as Liepaja.
Rucava municipality, as one of the smallest Latvian provinces in Lithuania, faces typical challenges of local government: the land is explored by Lithuanians, the population is reduced, employment opportunities are being searched more in Liepaja. However, the pearl of Rucava municipality is the “callers” of the People's traditions and the Baltic Sea sandy and tourist uncompacted beach. The “callers” of the People's traditions promote both the traditions of the Oral and People's Office of Lower Kurzeme and the local culinary heritage, which I believe would be a remarkable thing in the activities of our municipality's “Colnasate”, as the guests are always bound by the local culinary heritage colorite and their own nature.
The municipality's municipality, although there are only two parish municipalities like Rucava municipality, can be proud of contemporary sports hall at secondary school, as well as the Baltic Sea coast (24 km long), which also forms the direction of the development base. The municipality implements an EAFRD project for the reconstruction of the fishing networks which will result in the establishment of a cultural heritage building which will be a significant incentive for tourist attraction and local entrepreneurship.
The ability of the eight municipalities of the former district of Liepāja to agree on the need for a common tourism development office and its financing for 20 years was very affected. This shows the ability of local government leaders to think about long-term development, as the benefits of local and international tourism are very important for local entrepreneurs in many sectors - catering, accommodation, transport, cultural and entertainment, and generate significant financial contribution throughout the Land of Lower Land. The Liepāja Region Tourism Development Office is continuously implementing diverse marketing activities for the promotion of local business, such as the Liepāja gift card, which can be resumed in about 30 companies in the Liepāja region. It was a pleasant surprise that the Tourism Development Office devotes much time to creating and maintaining personal contacts with entrepreneurs, thereby creating a fundamental framework for cooperation, understanding the needs and opportunities of industry companies.
Brigita Arbidane,
Project manager of the Regional Development Planning Unit of Rezekne
This experience of exchange of experience made it possible to look at the work of three Kurzeme municipalities and to meet some of the projects implemented. It was interesting to visit Rucava's ethnographic house “callers” where we were not only welcome but also singing. There was a feeling of ancient traditions in every song, but the simple field food seemed particularly delicious. It is important to be proud of their roots, their origin, culture, traditions and language, and they understand it perfectly!
Tatjana Walk,
Development Planning Division Territorial Planner
Especially liked the ethnographic house “callers”, in which we met Rucava cultural heritage, songs, we enjoyed the rāciņus with white butter and the sorting of delicious bread. This object has received the cultural mark “Latvian Heritage”.
We met the employees of Rucava Municipality and discussed projects and developments. We saw the Rucava manor mountain. The municipality of Rucava municipality, in collaboration with Salaspils botanical garden, has created, dendrological park and installed a recreational area with a view platform from which a picturesque view of the neighbouring country Lithuania opens.
In the municipality, we met the projects and development trends that we were looking for, and we searched for antiques. There are very beautiful and tasty stops in the hotel.
The Hotels in Halle is open on July 15, 2016. A large sports hall with 420 viewers, a trainer hall, an aerobic hall (fitness, aerobics), four dressing rooms with toilets and showers, rooms of judges and teachers with showers and toilets, inventory warehouse, sauna with auxiliary rooms, a lobby with wardrobe, is found in the building.
We were in the Nature Park, Bernates, located in a protected Natura 2000 site. There is a nature trail. Of course the sea and the sea again. We visited the holiday house “onions” - we saw a lot of millstones, a clean and clean environment, looked at the art gallery.
It was a pleasant astonishment of the church's beauty, Christapi. Plants planted in separate groups are spatially separated from each other. Particularly rich is a collection of Hosts with more than 130 varieties, including a collection of rich maple varieties (25). The garden landscape is supplemented by the Laboratory Pond. Visitors can familiarise themselves with the garden and listen to a story of different species of plants, varieties, as well as valuable advice in the creation of the garden. They also have a large farm with 200 dairy cows.
In the city where the wind is born, we met a representative of Liepāja City Council, head of the Liepāja Region Tourism Information Bureau. There was a very useful conversation on projects and developments in tourism, marketing and new trends.
Excursion on the city of Liepaja. We saw the historical tree building, which is mostly made up of residential buildings. It is one of the city's biggest pride. Liepaja should look at the alley of musicians, the market, the Sv. Joseph Cathedral, Liepaja University, Liepāja Yogendyle Heritage, Ghost Tree, concert hall “big Dzintars”, should be visiting the tram. And, of course, Liepaja beach (the sea, the sea, the white, very fine sands)!
Thank you, all colleagues, for driving and being together and getting a new experience and a beautiful feeling!
Ilze Zelča, Employee of the Tourism Information Centre of Rezekne
By visiting small municipalities on the Kurzeme side, it comes to the conclusion that the patriots of their party, enthusiastic, are also living and working there. THE possibilities of attracting EU funding are being exploited, although a small local government is very difficult to attract “big money”.
The provinces of Rucava, Liepaja, are rich in cultural and historical heritage. It is saved, promoted.
I've been a fourth time in Liepaja over 15 years. It is pleasant to see the city visually staying more orchestrated and more conspicuous.
It was interesting to find out how the work of the Liepāja Region Tourism Information Bureau was organised. I think that, in this area, our municipality and the city can make a great deal.
Thank the organisers for their nice and valuable journey!
