Granting RSEZ commercial company status to two new companies — “KT centre” and “Atmosclear CHP”
In June 2014, the Board of Supervisors of the local government institution “Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Administration” adopted decisions regarding granting of the status of the commercial company of Rezekne Special Economic Zone (RSEZ) to two new companies. Thus, overall, THE status of THE COMMERCIAL company OF RSEZ will be already 17 for companies that will be able to apply the tax rebates laid down in the Law on the Special Economic Zone of Rezekne and the tax relief legislation, and this is the highest indicator during the operation of THE RSEZ Law since 1997.
On 6 June 2014, the company plans to implement the special welding electrode (pencil) developed within the framework of the scientific process for granting THE status OF RSEZ commercial company TO SIA “KT centre”. The product is patented, the main target market for the product is THE EU, THE CIS and Latin America. As a result of the project, 20-30 new jobs could be created.
On 12 June 2014, THE Board of Supervisors of RSEZ's commercial company also decided to grant SIA “Atmosclear CHP”, which was already established by one of the most economically active and largest companies – wood pellet producer “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA. “Atmosclear CHP” will produce wood particle granules as well as electricity and heat. The total investment in the project is EUR 10,5 million. The economic activity is expected to be launched in 2015. The company will provide 5 new jobs, mainly for manufacturing and engineering professionals.
To date, 15 companies with more than 760 employees were active with THE status of RSEZ. CAPITAL companies registered IN RSEZ may receive both direct tax discounts (real estate tax, corporate tax) and indirect tax relief, forming free zones in THE territory OF THE RSEZ, as well as making investments.
In 2013, the total turnover OF RSEZ commercial companies was 54,5 million. EUR, investments in companies last year more than 11.5 million Eur. The largest investments in manufacturing development and modern technologies have been performed in the veneer plywood production facility “VEREMS”, the wood chip production company “NewFuels” and the metalworking company “LEAX Rezekne”. In addition, more than 80% of all direct foreign investments in Rezekne have been performed directly IN RSEZ companies.
