For young people

Young people aged 18-28 are invited to apply for participation in the international informal education programme Bridge it!. It aims at providing basic knowledge in the implementation of projects, helping to improve the social environment and promote communication and cooperation among young people in the Baltic Sea region.
“Bridge it!” is invited to apply for 18 to 28 years of age who live in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and the northwest of Russia. Young people from Latvia are particularly invited. The working language of the programme is English. The programme will be binding for all interested in various civic activities (participation in student and pupil councils, non-governmental organisations, involvement in social activities, volunteering etc.), as well as those who are looking for opportunities to meet similarly-minded young people from other countries and want to improve the environment around them.
Bridge it! is an informal education programme that has been active since 2012. Through informal learning methods, young people are stimulated by critical thinking, understanding the diversity of different social aspects and giving momentum to civic engagement. Within the framework of the programme with mentor support, participants are offered the opportunity to implement their own individual initiatives and projects.
The programme is composed of 4 stages – introductory seminar, project seminar, project implementation and evaluation seminar. As a programme guide, the concept of “imaginary Community” created by Professor Benedict Anderson has been chosen, which he has created for the development of the United Nations. We, in challenging the various aspects of our “Community” life, have developed the subject further by proposing, for two introductory seminars, the themes of “cultural diversity: rather unifying as scalding” (VelikiNovgorod, Russia) and “Eko-Community: following trends or real needs” (Globokoe, Russia). Each participant shall select one of the seminars (both will be held at the same time between 5 and 13 July), which will serve as an inspiration for the exchange of ideas and opinions. This will be followed by a seminar in Tartu, Estonia (14-21 August), which will provide the basic knowledge of the project management needed to enable the participant to successfully implement its social project on a major theme. At the end of the programme from 6 to 11 December, all participants will meet in Lithuania (the city will be clarified) to discuss and evaluate progress.
The attendance and catering of the programme participants at the seminar venue, as well as the visa costs shall be provided by Bridge it!. The participants themselves should only cover 50% of travel expenses at the workshop venue and back. When developing a project idea, the participants may also be eligible for small financial support for the implementation of the project.
Applications for seminars are expected by 14 May in the form of an electronic application form
