New Engineering Faculty of Rezekne High School – a step in science and research growth

July 4: History of Rezekne High School (RA) is recorded as a significant date. With the discovery of a new RA engineer faculty, a variety of laboratories in Rezekne, Latgale region and all Latvian youth, researchers, entrepreneurs have become available. Construction of the project “New Engineering Faculty, Laboratory Construction and Purchase of Equipment” was launched in April of the year with the support of the European Regional Development Fund (010/0117/3DP/3 .1 .2 .1 .1/09/IPIA/VIAA/028). The total area of the newly built building is 4000 m2 (from the total area of the laboratory is estimated at 1190 m2).
Rēzekne's high school rector Edmunds Turumnieks expressed gratitude to anyone who contributed to the project's progress at the time of the opening of the building. “This is a collective success of the Rēzekne Higher School. Thanks to successful cooperation with the National Education Development Agency, ministries, builders, we have managed to build a high-quality, new, modern building. We have been able to achieve such good results by working together in a responsible way shoulder to shoulder," E.Turumnieks said.
LR Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma, Deputy DIRECTOR OF VIAA Dita Traidas, deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education, Science and Innovation in Higher Education, Inese Corner, Aleksandrs Bartachvičs, Chairman of the Rēzekne District Council, Rēzekne District Council Monvīds Švarcs, v.e. Rezekne - Aglona bishop Jānis Boaris, students, graduates, managers of educational institutions, entrepreneurs and other co-operation partners.
Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma said in his speech: “The Rezekne university today opens another modern faculty. Young people will come here to learn new specialities. It would be very important for young people to understand that their knowledge is necessary for the region, that they are the ones who need to work here and develop business, create jobs.”
The new engineer faculty does not have a sophisticated inner finishing, but emphasis is placed on the use of new technologies: in each room there are carbon dioxide sensors that fix its level in the air of the room, depending on the concentration, the intensity of the ventilation is regulated, the entire lighting operates on motion sensors, the lighting intensity is adjustable, the total ventilation provides not only air heating through the regenerator but also cooled. In laboratories and offices there is a climate control system, the entire building contains compressed air supply, voice-reporting system, three-screen windows etc. The building has an engineering design – students can see a communication activity. The basic structure is based on the monolithic concrete that provides the strength of the structures.
A Finieris treated with polyurethane (protected against humidity and environmental effects) is used as a finishing material from the outside of the building. Veneer plates are treated with fire-proof varnish.
As the new building is located at 100 m radius from the cultural history monument (the renowned RA building, former teacher institute), it must not be higher. This is why the cocolflour and the flat roof are set up. Overall, the newly built building is very well in the vicinity of the historic teacher institute.
Designing the building is meant to be convenient for students, doctors, staff. The architect of the building is Juris Mitenbergs (SIA “AB3D”), a builder - the general company SIA “re & re”. Access to all spaces in people with special needs shall be ensured in the building.
The room equipment in the opening festival surprised not only the visitor. All who wanted to see the engineer at the faculty of the faculty opened up modern, modern, fully equipped rooms. (amphiatric audience – provided with audio-video equipment, translation capabilities, all necessary video conferencing. There are conference rooms, individual offices, conference hall, audiences, library, reading room. Terrace students and trainers can be used as a recreational area. President of Latvia's student association Kiril Solovjov acknowledges: “Rezekne is one of Latvia's educational centres. This event is a current confirmation of an active process of attracting students to the region. We hope that the Higher School of Rezekne will continue to carry the name of Rezekne in the world and strengthen Latgale as a vital region of Latvia.”
In the premises there are glass wall structures, they in turn provide transparency. Varied and wide-ranging is a range of laboratories. The successful acquisition of scientific sciences will enable students to operate IN CNC, chemistry and ecology, mehatronics, ecology and environmental protection, physics, electrical engineering, etc. Many of the plants purchased by the Higher School of Rezekne are in the only Baltic States. Juris Bozovics, director of the college of Malnava: “This faculty of engineering is long awaited in Latgale. The college of Malnava has the possibilities of drawing up road transport specialists and, in the future, a closer collaboration between college and Rezekne High School can be developed than hitherto.
The cost of the acquisition of laboratory equipment, accessories, equipment and technology shall be EUR 2569417.65. Construction of the new engineer faculty and development of the technical project EUR 6 308 561.14, while building equipment (tables, chairs, whiteboards), library modernisation, information and publicity measures are set AT EUR 713 462.07. The total eligible costs of the project are EUR 9 591 440.86, (ERDF 85% 8152723.95, Latvian budget 7.171 TP1T 687705.25, co-financing of Rezekne High School 7.831 TP1T 751011.66).
During the existence of the Rezekne Higher School, this is the first building built from the project to a modern building.
RA engineer faculty decane Ērika Teirumnieka expresses with confidence: “This building is a benefit for the city, it will form the visibility of Rezekne. The faculty of engineers is, of course, one of the ingredients that joined the student town, which is at the end of the liberation alley 115. '
Currently, the Faculty of Engineers of Rezekne Higher School offers 10 different study programmes at all levels (basic studies, masters and doctorate level).
Minister of Transport Anrijs Matīss: “it is an opportunity for people to learn world-class education. Acquire knowledge and practical skills, work with very modern technologies and tools. In the future, this will give the economy of the region a highly skilled workforce capable of handling complex equipment. If we look at areas related to traffic, such as rail or road construction, it is important that specialists be qualified, ready to work for the region and our country.
Already in September, students, trainers and employees will begin to implement a study process and active research activity.
