The municipality of Rezekne has decided not to install an animal cemetery for the time being

The municipality of Rezekne decided not to install a cemetery of pet animals (cat, dog, fodder, etc.) IN THE parish area OF Ozolmuižas in the parish area of the municipality of 19.1 ha in the area of land owned by the municipality. A price survey was carried out on how much local government could pay land hydrogeological research. The only offer was from Geo Consultants, which was prepared to carry out hydrogeological exploration for a total amount of EUR 9 700,00 (excluding value added tax).
The animal cemetery is currently postponed. Members of the Rēzekne municipality council admitted that the establishment of pet cemeteries belongs to a certain extent to luxury services that would be too expensive for the local government and the population.
There are several pet cemeteries in Latvia, in Riga, Cēsis, and the costs of funeral burial, depending on the size, the type of burial, such as the burial of the animal at the individual burial site, depending on the location of the burial and its dimensions – are paid from 170 EURO (the price includes the place of grave, the execution of the burial and the first annual management fee).
Currently, in the municipality of Rezekne, the disposal of small pets can be carried out in the scientific institute of food safety, animal health and the environment “BIOR” in the customer service department of Rezekne, Liep street 33b, Rezekne. The destruction of animals shall be paid for 1 kg of EUR 1.03. Contacts - May Savicka 28621953, July Grebec 28669303.
