Tetrapacks are packaged packagings containing milk, kephir, yoghurt, juice and various other liquids. This package protects food from bacteria and other microbial contamination, so the products can be present in the shelf for several months and do not deteriorate. The tetrapara contains both paper and aluminium and polyethylene. All these materials are suitable for recycling. However, in the case of tetrapara packaging, they are all alloyed together, which provides for a specific recycling technology to separate each of these types of materials, which are very complex.
As of 1 February 2019, SIA,, ALAAS '' has found the possibility of transferring tetrapacks for further processing, thus calling on the population to take advantage of the possibility to start sorting the tetrapacks by placing them in separate collection containers for paper, plastic and metal!
In order to be suitable for processing, it is important to separate it from food impurities (if the tetrapara was milk or kefir, rinse it out) and flatten it to fill less space in the container before discarding into a separate collection container.
