“Europe in my city” will take place during the pupils' holidays

From 19 to 26 October, by inviting the European Union (EU) to work in its surroundings, 11 cities in Latvia will play a “Europe in my city”. At a time when it is not possible to travel outside Latvia, the Ministry of Finance encourages better acquaintance of Latvia and its city with the participation of the “Europe in my city” and Cēsis, Gulbene, Madona, Jçkabpils, Daugavpils, Rēzekne, Jelgava, Kuldīga, Liepāja, Ventspils and Valmiera, introducing objects that have been covered by EU funding support.

Every citizen of Latvia has obtained directly or indirectly from the financing of EU funds. This is a full time when it is impossible to go outside Latvia. We therefore call on the free time to spend time with friends or family as to how European funds' investments in our cities have improved their living space and quality, while remembering the restrictions imposed in the country and being responsible for themselves and others,'The Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Armands Eberhards, is encouraged.

Players will be able to participate in two ways: downloading an app on a mobile device or printing and filling out task sheets. Players will be able to participate in a team of 2-6 people, the participants must attend up to 10 sites in the city that have received EU fund support in response to the game's questions.

At the time of the game, the participants are invited to be responsible and to follow the national precautions to comply with a 2-meter distance and do not crowd. The participants of the game are invited to carefully assess their health status before taking part in the game and stay at home in the event of respiratory infection. Persons who have confirmed Covid-19 infection and certain isolation, Covid-19 contacts who are obliged to respect domestic quarantine and persons who need to be self-insulated for foreign travel should not participate in the orientation play “Europe in my city”.

The orientation game “Europe in my city” is organised by the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the central finance and contract agency, the European Commission's representation in Latvia and the “Europe Direct” information centres. The event takes place within the framework of the European Commission's “EU in My Region” campaign.
