Team of the Prime_Primary School award for participation in Riga marathon
As a result of the beginning of the new school year, the Ministry of Education and Science was honoured at the 2019 Rimi Riga marathon's most sporting and active schools. Thanks to the support of Riga City Council and Latvian sports Federation Council, in May, 2 655 pupils from all over Latvia participated in the running festival, competing in the “Latvian School Cup 2019”. Both the best schools from Riga and Latvia and teachers who gathered the fastest pupils and the number of pupils on holidays received recognition and awards.
The tradition for schools and pupils to compete with each other and participate in a running festival on reduced membership fees was established as early as 2008. 1 586 pupils from Riga schools and 1 069 pupils from other Latvian cities participated in the broad and unified Latvian School Cup.

THE President of LATVIA Einars Fogelis expressed his wish to make Latvia's largest running festival available to every child and teenager throughout Latvia. “In the years of the years of children, the popularity of the growing race leads to confidence that the People's sport is increasingly becoming a regular ritual, in which there is a good feeling that strengthens the foundations of healthy, modern nation. In order to keep progress in the long term, it is important to provide opportunities for every child and young person to engage in sports activities, applying physical activity types in accordance with his or her physical preparedness and interests,” said president E. Fogelis.
This year, the Latvian School of Higher School was awarded a sports school “Arkadia”.
The promotion prizes for the number of participants of the school team and the athletic results achieved were received by three teachers: a league finder from the Riga Centre Humanities High School, Laura Janševska from the primary school of woodlanders and Linda Grandberg from Riga Hanza High School.
In the “Latvian School Cup 2019” award ceremony at the Ministry of Education and Science, representatives of the Cup Cup Schools, THE Ministry of Education and Science of LATVIA, took place in Shuplinska, President of Latvia's sports Federation Council Einars Fogelis, head of the sports and youth administration of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport of Riga City Council Dina Vīksna and the head of the Rimi Riga marathon organizer team Aigars Nords.
