Wastes from the woods - you want to report, but don't know where you are? There are suspicious networks in the river - you want to report, but don't know what? The company pollutes the environment - you want to report, but it isn't worth it, so will nothing change? If you're going to help, you're going to help. A mobile app for environmental reporting of environmental SOS offences developed for the purposes of the State Environmental Service (VVD).
The “environmental SOS” is designed to promote society's environmental responsibility and to educate the environment as well as the work of state, municipal and non-governmental organisations in the field of environmental protection.
With the help of a mobile app, THE VVD may report soil, air and water pollution as well as various suspicious activities and significant environmental irregularities such as waste, fishing and fishing gear, violation of river and lake protection zones and other environmental risks.
How does the “environment SOS” mobile app work?
First, the mobile SOS app downloads the App Store (near time) and Google Play. “Environmental SOS” operates with the help of mobile data and GPS signal. When the environmental infringement is detected, it must be photographed, described and transmitted TO THE VVD. All messages arrive at THE VVD and when they are processed, special websites that have been created for this purpose become available www.videssos.lv in an interactive map where you can track the status of the sent messages from the time of sending the information to the prevention of the infringement. As well as the rapporteurs receive information from THE VVD on the progress of the sent report in e-mail.
It should be noted that “environmental SOS” is working with Facebook and Draugiem.lv a passport, and you can share your messages with Facebook and Twitter.
To encourage the public to use the “environment SOS” mobile app promotional clip.
THE VVD shall monitor compliance with regulatory enactments in the fields of environmental protection, radiation and nuclear safety and the use of natural resources. As the polluting activity and the authorisations for the use of natural resources are issued to undertakings BY THE VVD, it also controls how the conditions referred are met. VVD inspectors carry out the planned checks every year, the controls at high risk are more frequent, but if complaints are received, the inspectors arrive without warning.
Project with financial support from the Latvian Environment Protection Fund (LVAF).
