ZS “mint” produces quality meat products and plans to develop

IN Sakstagala parish, in Laizāns village since December 1991, the farm “mint” is held by Evalds and May Bodji. The organic farm produces meat and meat products that are popular not only in the local area but also in Riga, Daugavpils and other cities. The housekeeper says in May that the name “minds” came from childhood and youth. Childhood and youth-day memories are only a few of the spices used by the Bodge family in the production of products.

From the start, the owners have wanted to create something special. The housewife is a cook in May, and the cooking skills are inherited from Mom and grandmother. After enjoying the delicious production of the Bodge family, it is safe to say that they are the wizards of food who can make the right quality and taste in the experiment. They manage to find the most spiritual recipes that make their products so special.

The range offered by the farmer is now wide – different types of sausages, smoked, galleries, rolls, cotletes, steels, meat pancakes, etc. The housewife says that the demand for their production grows, only to be able to produce it because there is a lot of work on the farm. Sows, fattening pigs and sheep are kept on the farm. The farm “mint” has a contract with the association “Latvian sheep growers' association”, within which the breeding of the breed is performed according to the breeding programme. And when the Food and Veterinary Service issued a “food business registration certificate” for the holding in 2011, the farm was engaged in the processing of meat in domestic conditions. By attracting EU co-financing, the owners managed to build and equip the meat processing plant, which gave the incentive to operate further and seek new growth opportunities.

Currently, the last work on the completion of the construction of the slaughterhouse, which was launched thanks to the support of the rural development programme “aid for recycling”. The establishment of a slaughterhouse for the farm “mint” will provide an opportunity to expand the range of production by launching the production of fresh minced meat for marketing which was not allowed until now because there was no slaughterhouse. A suitable meat processing equipment and a trailer for the supply of live animals to the slaughterhouse were also purchased under this programme.

This year, the farm “mint” took part in the exhibition “Riga Food 2016”, which took place between 7 and 10 September in Riga, the international exhibition centre in Ķīpsala, which also offered a new product – roulette “intrigue” with garlic. It should be noted that this year, there were 150 domestic producers, small and medium-sized enterprises, which are in such a large number of years. The owners of the minds acknowledged that participation in this exhibition is very important because they provide an opportunity to meet new partners, get new contacts and develop new ideas for their production.

The farm “mint” was recognised as the home of the municipality of Rezekne. The farm is actively participating in various markets with its production. For example, the production of “mint” may be purchased in the local household and artisanal market “Lobs lobby”, which takes place every month in the premises of the municipality of Rezekne.

The housewife has much to do not only in the diversification of products but also in the diversification of economic activities, offering services such as the reception and catering of visitors, etc. Every dream that is expressed at first level in words, fictitious, planned, is later gradually realized. For the greatest satisfaction of his work, the housekeeper acknowledges the good reviews of people and the long line in all markets. Direct contact with the consumer Bodge family provides an irrevocable fulfillment and fuel with full capacity to operate further.
