During the Second World War, the church grabbed the towers and blew up the monastery, but after the war the church and the monastery were restored. The pilgrims house, the cultural area 7, Viļānos, is restored in place of the building belonging to the church, with the intention of raising the capacity of the accommodation and improving the visual appearance of the site, creating a clean external environment.
