Lūznavas Manor invites to be involved in a social business platform in Rezekne municipality
Lūznavas Manor, continuing to think about the development of social entrepreneurship in Rezekne municipality, calls on existing social entrepreneurs, associations, as well as potential social enterprises and businesses, which could have the potential of social entrepreneurship, to engage in a social entrepreneurship development project.
Currently, Rēzekne municipality, together with Ogre and Lephen, participates in the social entrepreneurship development project Building Resilience and Cooperation: Social Entrepreneurship for Stronger Communities in Latvia, which is implemented by the Latvian Social Entrepreneurship Association in collaboration with British Council Latvia. The aim of the project is to promote the involvement and development of social entrepreneurship in local governments – to build co-operation, development platforms, to create and implement long-term social entrepreneurship support activities and instruments.
Lūznavas Manor as the Ambassador of Social Entrepreneurship will collect information about organizations, businesses, stakeholders in Rezekne District and neighborhood who might have social entrepreneurship potential or who may be able to combine business with social purpose in the future, so they are invited to refer to both active societies that are already sustainably doing things that could be converted into business and businesses who are already engaged in social objectives (e.g. involving employees from socially vulnerable groups), and local activists who are interested in entrepreneurship with added value. It is recalled that a social enterprise is a limited liability company (SIA) which makes a positive social impact on creative economic activities (such as the provision of social services, the creation of inclusive civil society, the promotion of education, the support for science, the protection and preservation of the environment, the protection of animals or the provision of cultural diversity). A company must obtain the status of a social enterprise, which can be carried out by both existing undertakings, adjusting the conditions of the law, as well as newly established SIA, which is established directly with the aim of becoming social enterprises. The project “Building Resilience and Cooperation: Social Entrepreneurship for Stronger Communities in Latvia” is implemented by the association “Latvian Social Entrepreneurship Association” in collaboration with the British Council in Latvia and three municipalities – Ogres, Rezekne and Lephans. It aims to promote the development of social entrepreneurship in specific municipalities by creating and implementing long-term social entrepreneurship support activities and instruments that meet the needs of existing and potential social enterprises.
The project launched this summer will continue until February of the following year, and an exchange of experience will be organised for all three municipalities concerned about the experience, challenges and further steps of the social entrepreneurship support system. The results of the project are also planned to be distributed to other local governments, encouraging them and encouraging the development and further development of social enterprises.
