The municipality of Rezekne, in cooperation with SIA “ALAAS”, is working on the establishment of a waste sorting system in the territory of Rezekne District.
In 2015 and 2016, the municipality of Rezekne has established municipal waste collection points in 24 parishes (a closed-type sorting container for paper, plastic and glass). Details of the locations and working times of the waste sorting points created are added in the Annex.
In 2017, a number of waste sorting points are still planned to be built in the municipality of Rezekne municipality.
Experience shows that the best place for sorting waste is in closed-type container areas. For example, if a person in a container for paper is disposed of unsorted waste, all efforts may be wasted and the waste may be considered unsorted. Therefore, the sorting of waste is a matter of integrity and responsibility for each person.
All sorted municipal waste SHALL be accepted by SIA “ALAAS” free of charge.
What is the benefit of sorting municipal waste?
(1) When sorting waste, the costs of waste management may be reduced as the sorted waste is collected and exported for processing free of charge. So if you want to save money every month, Scroll the waste!
2) sorted waste shall become secondary raw materials from which new – same or other goods may be re-produced. For example, when the glass is recycled, it can be re-used as food and drink packaging. The glass never grows, it can be recycled indefinitely. When disposing of glass into a sorted waste container, it enters the factory where it is washed, crushed and rendered to obtain a second life. When the glass is recycled, the sand is saved and the surrounding environment is not covered.
In the process of recycling plastic and PET waste, shelves, films, window frames, carpets, drainage tubes, flower pots, clothing, blankets, brushes and many other useful things are produced.
3) save a place in landfill sites - so that only waste which is really no longer possible to be recycled can be stored.
4) make the environment and the environment around us more beautiful – the polyethylene bags jammed on the roadside or in the bushes of the bushes.
Currently, an area for the acceptance of sorted waste located in the territory of the municipal waste landfill site “Križeviks” (Ozolaines civil parish) has also been established in the municipality of Rezekne. For the acceptance of sorted waste, there are publicly available specially labelled metallic 1.1 m3 containers intended for the collection of sorted waste. These waste are accepted free of charge.
In the municipality of Rezekne, waste management is carried out BY SIA “ALAAS”.
