UN 16-day violence against women - also in Rezekne
Since 2013, the United Nations is calling on the governments, self-governments and citizens of the world to engage and pay particular attention to the prevention of gender-based violence. 16 days against violence in the world begin on 25 November, a day dedicated to combating violence against women and by 10 December, the international human rights day.
The Resource Center for Women IN MARCH encourages Latvian society to become more active in preventing violence, calling for the creation of a family-based family and shared with true stories. In 16 days, MARCH plans more than 10 different events in Latvia, both arts and cultural events in Rezekne, seminars and conference specialists in Latvian cities.

Rezekne, Latgale Embassy GORE, November 23 – December 7
Four photographers of Latvia: Aiga Ratmane, Jānis Daninats, Kristaps kalns and Martin zirulis in his daily work, creating media content, photographing various women. A decision on what a woman looks like in the media is accepted by the editor in the order of the publisher. This time they try to capture the occasional border, which either grants or subtracts the value of the woman. Common is the idea of an idea, while the exhibition will be a private and personal vision of each photographer.
The practical workshop for women “my body — my security.” How do i protect myself in a close relationship? '
Rezekne, November 23, Jacob, November 24
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to identify actions and practical advice as themselves to protect themselves from the vicinity of violence. We will assess both individual experiences and provide insight into the instruments of Latvian legislation that can be used to protect themselves. The workshop will be managed by the MARCH team of the Resource Center, who is working with cases on a day-to-day basis and provides practical advice to solve complex situations.
Training for youth workers and enthusiasts
Rezekne, November 23, Jacob, November 24
In both Rēzekne and Jçkabpils, MARCH will run one day training for professionals working with young people, paying particular attention to the area of human rights, the diversity of society and the social design of identities. Training will contribute to raising awareness of gender discrimination, enable school workers and pupils to build a more inclusive environment in schools, provide the necessary knowledge of identity and gender-related issues, and develop skills to reduce gender-based violence.
Case solutions and consultation “traveling MARCH”
Rezekne, November 23
The Martha Travelling Bureau will visit both Rēzekne and Ventspils, providing free advice to solve complex situations. The advice will be given by Martha's social worker and lawyer.
SEVEN-reading plays
Rezekne, Latgale Embassy GORE, 7 December
The play is a story of the fate of seven different national women (Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, Russia, Guatemala, Pakistan, Cambodia and Nigeria), which combine the courage to change their lives and dare to overcome the stereotypes of society. By the time of their personal struggles, all the plays of the play are an active social worker. It is a striking manifestation on behalf of democracy and human rights. The play was written as a reading on stage.
The play with success has been shown in many parts of the world - in the Balkans, Sweden, THE EU Parliament in Brussels. In New York, Hilary Clinton opened the show with introductory words, but Oscar's prize laureate, Merrill Snape, made a picture of Inesi McCormaka, the human rights defender of Northern Ireland.
Every time it is read by seven different people, the authority of the local community, representing different groups of society – they are politicians, public employees, athletes, journalists and people who have survived in personal and national crises. Each of the stories is deeply personal; they talk about the separation of life, the violence, and the courage to live on. In Rēzekne, Embassy of Latgale, GORE, at the reading of the play, the artist Svetlana Skačkova-Marchenko, the journalist Alexander Elksne, the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Rezekne, May Breke, the professor of Rezekne High School of Rēzekne, took place in Shuplinska, poet Anna Rancāne, as well as the Swedish Ambassador to Latvia Henrihs Langerholms and the LR Saeima secretary-general Carina Petersone.
The plays of the play are internationally rated dramatists: Paula Cizmar, Catherine Filloux, Gail Kriegel, Carol K. Mack, Ruth Martif, Anna Deveare Smith and Susan Yankowitz. The dramatic material is based on an interview with the characters in 2007.
The show will be held in Latvian, Latvian, English and Russian, with translation in Latvian and Russian. It is intended for a wide range of viewers.
