Latgale – first European cultural heritage network region in Latvia
The majority of Latgale entrepreneurs who entered the culinary heritage network in 2004 are also successful in it. But this year, implementation of Latvia - Lithuania - Belarus cross-border cooperation programme No. LLB-2-266 “Improving culinary services in Latgale and Vitebsk regions, based on the concept of culinary heritage” (BELLA CUISINE), the Latgale culinary heritage network will be complemented by new actors. Overall, 35 or even more Latgale companies will operate on this network.
The European culinary heritage network covers 27 European regions with a total number of members – 1108 of 8 countries, including Latgale region, which has entered the network in 2004 and is the first region of the European culinary heritage network in Latvia. The culinary heritage is characterised by regional, local and local food, and in Latgale it is important to taste one of them, such as Aulia's mappings, sleeves, assholes, or anyone else. They can be enjoyed in places where there is a specific indication – the culinary inheritance mark with a cook cap.
The AIM of the BELLA CUISINE project is to improve the service of culinary services in Latgale and Vitebsk regions, based on the concept of culinary heritage, developing business and trade, raising the capacity of catering institutions in both regions, promoting the future development of traditional kitchen and establishing the international culinary heritage centre in Kraslava.
With the aim of promoting the concept of culinary heritage and regional food, on July 20, 2013, a culinary heritage festival was organised in the Rēzekne District, the first of four projects. The festival included approximately 30 companies - members of the culinary heritage network and domestic producers from Latgale, as well as companies, Agro farms from Vitebsk area. Visitors were able to tasting and also purchase festival participants' products, prepared, mainly from local products.
On October 22, 2013, a guest house on “Green Island” took place in the Rēzekne municipality, where there were more than 30 Latgale entrepreneurs. The training themes “design and presentation of food” and “communication psychology” are foreseen in the near future. At that time, work on the development of the 6-day culinary heritage route and the preparation of a joint brochure is being carried out. These materials are planned to be issued and the cultural heritage offers to be promoted in international tourism exhibitions “Balttour” in Riga, “Otdih” in Minsk and “Otdih without granic” in St. Petersburg.
Traditionally, many Latgale associates with the blue lake land, the wedding in Latgale, the winners of the singing families and the choir war in television shows, as well as the winner of the EUROPEAN competition “European Excellent Tourism destinations”, “Latgale potdiers - clay commanders”. But Latgale's cultural heritage has been linked to his offer for almost 10 years. Welcome to Latgale!

Total budget OF the project LLB-2-266 BELLA CUISINE: EUR 483 195,05. From this amount, 90% – 434 875.54 EURO is the support of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument for Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus.
