Programming Week or #CodeWeek
The European Union (EU) programming week #CodeWeek will be held worldwide between 10 and 25 October 2020 in order to stimulate interest in programming and to show everyone the opportunity to apply it on a daily basis.
THE EU's programming week is a citizens' initiative aimed at presenting everyone with programming and digital literacy in an interesting and binding way.
Latvian school informatics, Computer teachers, as well as managers of interest education activities (programming, engineering, robotics) are invited at this time to offer activities that enable students to work with programming. The idea lessons can be drawn from #CodeWeek home page resourceswhere methodological materials are available in Latvian. In addition, teachers can learn about several activities that occur remotely (by selecting “online activity” in the search engine) and applying for their class to participate in them.
October 15, 2020 programming for classes 4-5 for “Welcome Scratch”
The “Learn IT” programming school for children invites all Latvian students of classes 4-5 to participate in a unique interactive online Computer Hour.
During the hour, Elīna Ingelande, founder of “Learn IT”, will provide students with a video conference to create a story in Scratch's programming language for many of the students who are familiar with “your class”, and Robert. To participate in the lesson, the class requires a stable Internet connection, a teacher computer with speakers and a projector to display a conference video, and a computer for each pupil. If the class is in self-insulation, the student can connect to the video conference independently. The lesson will take place on 15 October at 10.00 - 10.40 and at 11.30 - 12.10. On October 20, 2020, Vistatavia programming hour will be held online for the 7 th-12 th class students
Students aged between 14 and 20 are invited to participate in the free online Vistatia programming hour, which is organised for a second year by the European School of Programming Datorium. Students will develop their first application and feel the role of a real programmer for an hour.
For teachers
Within THE FRAMEWORK of THE EU programming week, non-technological teachers, such as history, music or geography teachers, are invited to participate in online training courses at the Deep Dive MOOC organised BY EU CodeWeek with a view to presenting teachers with programming and technology, and to train and inspire participants to integrate programming elements within their subjects.
