In the school competition “My Latvia” won Maltas secondary school team
On 16 November, the Rēzekne Municipality of Rēzekne gathered a team of primary school pupils of Rezekne, in order to identify the most knowledgeable and successful team in the Rēzekne game “My Latvia”. This year, 13 teams took part in the competition, which led to seven contests, examining their knowledge of Latvia's history, culture, literature, nature, people and sport.
In compiling the results, the 3 rd place with 50 points was fought BY Nautrēnu secondary school team (Agija Vonoga, Annie Mazure, Andris Martinovs, Kaspars Gleizds, Alex Pujats), 2 nd place with 52.5 points won by the team of the Primary School of Verham (March Paula Seyne, Laura Doropoļska, Loretta Daniela Strucinska, Andrej Rasim, Jacob Gypslis), while 1 st place with 53,5 points was earned BY Maltas secondary school team (Everita Schtekele, Arnis Ostrovskis, Mark Tuch, Rudis Gipslis, Viesturs Liepins).
Team members engaged in different tasks – they tried to recognize the peoples' songs, showed how well they knew different facts about Latvia. For example, that the triathlon is a sport in which distance swimming, cycling and running are performed, that the Bible is displayed in the coat of arms, that the Freedom Monument was built for the People's donations, that the oak leaf is displayed on the sign of the special areas of conservation in Latvia, as well as the erudites had to recognize the order of three stars, Matīss Carro, Carnival Youth, Rundāle Castle, and much else.
