National Guard 3. Latgale Brigade in Rēzekne celebrates 30 th anniversary
On July 6, the National Guard 3 was celebrated in Rēzekne with solemn events. Celebrations of the 30 th anniversary of Latgale Brigade. In particular, the National Guard veterans will be honoured – Defence Minister Artis Pabriks will provide awards to those national guardsmen who have served in the National Guard for 30 years. On August 23, 1991, the Law on Latvian National Guard was adopted. Over 10,000 people participated in 35 territorial battalions over a few months. After a year, the number of volunteer national guardsmen was almost 17 000, and the National Guard became the most trusted military organization of Latvia. In order to ensure its operational operation, on June 30, 1992, five provincial brigades were established with the command of the National Guard of the Republic of Latvia, No. 14, on the establishment of provincial units: Brigade 1 of the National Guard with headquarters in Riga, Brigade 2 of the National Guard with Headquarters in Cēsis, 3 rd Brigade of the National Guard with Headquarters in Rezekne, 4 th Brigade of the National Guard with Headquarters in Liepāja and Brigade 5 of the National Guard with Headquarters in Ogre.
30 years ago, the National Guard's 3 rd Brigade structure comprised prizes, Ludza, Kraslava, Daugavpils, Preilu and Rezekne Battalion, as well as Rēzekne Aeroclub. National Guard 3. Latgale Brigadier's headquarters had always been in Rezekne: originally on 18 November, 20, in 1993, it was transferred to Jupatovka Street 22, but moved to the present-day headquarters in Dzintaru Street 7 after export of Russian troops.
Over the years, some reorganisations took place – from 2003 to 2016, the regional National Guard structure was operated as the National Guard 2 nd municipality, but since January 3, 2018, the historic name – National Guard 3 has been recovered. Latgale Brigade.
Currently, the team consists of six battalions:
ZS 32 nd infantry battalion with headquarters in Rezekne,
ZS 34 th Introducer Battalion with headquarters in Daugavpils,
ZS 35 th infantry battalion with headquarters in Preilos,
ZS 36 th Battle Support Battalion with Headquarters in Luznava,
ZS 55 th infantry battalion with headquarters in Aizkraukle,
ZS 56 th Battle Battalion with headquarters in Jekabpils.
National Guard 3. Latgale Brigade is Latvian Army 9. The traditions of Rēzekne's infantry regiment. Regiment nations “take, Father, i'm all!” “Sorgoj Latvia!” the first part is woven by the National Guard 3. In Latgale Brigade, its second part “Sorgoj Latvia!” is woven into the National Guard's 32 nd Introducer Battalion flag.
