National guardsmen and reserve soldiers will learn military basic skills

On Monday, August 3, “Forest Mackevics”, Daugavpils municipality, Daugavpils municipality, has opened a ceremony with a solemn ceremony at the National Guard 3. Latgale Brigade organized national guardsman's military basic training and reserve soldier course.

The national guardsman's military basic training and reserve soldier course will be held from 3 to 23 August and will participate in more than 100 national guardsmen and reserve soldiers.
In the course of the course, national guardsmen and reserve soldiers will learn field combat skills, the basic principles of battle shooting, gain insight into topography, training, as well as medical, communication training and binding laws and regulations. National guardsmen and reserve soldiers will have the opportunity to improve physical preparedness and to learn the foundations of military skills.
Training shall be organised by the National Guard 3. Brigade of Latgale and is provided by Brigadier instructors. The training of national guardsmen in the National Guard Service will be carried out by using a camp model where the military basic skills will be acquired during a continuous period. These types of military basic training camps have been held since 2015.
The basic training course is mandatory for every National Guard, and it is possible to learn it in two ways – on holidays for several months or together in a three-week camp. After successful completion of the basic training course, the national guardsmen may acquire a variety of specialities, such as a lozer, a wreck, a soldier and others. If a national guardsman wants to learn management skills and obtain a higher level of service, he or she may learn at a younger instructor and other courses.
National Guard 3. In Latgale Brigade, six battalions are located – the 32 nd Introducer Battalion of the National Guard in Rēzekne, the 34 th Introducer Battalion of the National Guard in Daugavpils, the 35 th Introducer Battalion of the National Guard in Preilos, the 36 th Battalion of the National Guard, the 36 th Battalion of the National Guard in Loznava and the 55 th Introducer Battalion of the National Guard in Aizkraukle, as well as the 56 th Security Batalion of the National Guard in Aizkraukle, as well as the National Guard 56 th Security Battalion in Jçkabpils.
The National Guard is an excellent example of the voluntary involvement of Latvian citizens in our national defence, which is a common responsibility of our society. The National Guard – it is an opportunity for every Latvian citizen in a frozen team not only to acquire military basic skills but also to acquire useful knowledge and skills necessary to protect his family and defend Latvia in a crisis situation. At the same time, the National Guard has an opportunity to improve his overall physical preparedness, health and expand his vision by participating in military exercises both in Latvia and abroad.
The National Guard shall not be separated by nationality, education, speciality or experience. The candidate must be a Latvian citizen from 18 to 55 years of age with national language knowledge at least average (B1) level, without criminal convictions, adequate health status and physical fitness.
