January 1991 barricades in Rēzen's primary school
There are pages in the history of countries and peoples that cannot be forgotten, they are reminded of themselves, no matter how long it is. Such a page of the Latvian People's History is an anxious and ignorant January 1991 barricade time, which is mentioned by the 25 th anniversary this year. In the early days of the Rēzna primary school students, on 20 January, there was an opportunity to try to feel and learn about the time of their parents in the school event, “barricades – 25 ''.
An improvised barricades memorial was arranged in the small hall of the school. The teacher Inga Katkovska and Jekaterina Gudkova took up the 1991 barricades time attributes – knitted wool stockings and gloves, time radio equipment and big thermos. A symbolic barricade fire was built with wooden blocks illuminated by burning candles. The hall contained information about the chronology of barricades, the timing of the time, supplemented by magazine articles, video films available in the school library, and children's drawings.
At the common moment of the school at the symbolic barricades, the pupils could imagine people's feelings, excitement, ignorance, and real threats in the anxious days of January 1991, watching a picture of a video film about events, listening to the school director's speech, listening to the events of barricades' events.
A former teacher of this school, Ziedonis Puzulis, who guarded Riga's television building in Zaķusala, was told about the events of 25 years ago. The participants of the barricades were emotionally told about being in Riga on barricades, the mood of the days and the emotions among the members of the barricades. Z. Puzulis wished the pupils to be strong and sporting to become the true champions of their country. In contrast, the teacher Irene Batare, who was a student of Latvia's university at that time, shared memories of the assistance of his and other students to Latvian strategic building guards with warm tea, sandwich, emotional support.
In the event of the event, students were invited to continue mentioning the barricades time events at the school's real fire. The cold weather helped to feel the warmth of the real fire and the hearts of the adjacent people, which strengthened and guessed the hope of freedom in the days of the barricades. Students and teachers agreed on a shared song. The attendants could enjoy the warm tea, pies and biscuits of the school staff.
