Call for a debate and express views on Latvia's development priorities after 2021
In order to jointly build Latvia better, safer, happier and more prosperous for everyone, the Repartmental Coordination Centre (PCC) invites citizens to participate in the discussion on national development priorities and the future of Latvia after 2021. We call on everyone to be active, to engage and express their views on the ideal “kernel” of the national development plan 2021-2027 (NAP2027) and the offer of priorities on THE PKC website: http://www.pkc.gov.lv/lv/nap-2027/atbalsti-prioritates by 31 January.
“Sustainable and balanced development is a value that we often do not consider when thinking about the future. We are accustomed to thinking about our own and state development as sports competitions, where there are losers and winners … but the development and prosperity of society are also driven by other principles, such as cooperation, confidence, courage to make choices, which may be unpopular in the short term, seem disadvantage, but bring fruit in the long term, thereby achieving improvements in the quality of life of Latvian citizens,” says Peteris Vilks on NAP2027 vision.
By taking over the good and valuable from the current Latvian National Development Plan 2014-2020 (NAP2020) and learning from failures, NAP2027 values different aspects of the quality of life and stable growth. NAP2027 core is based on a thorough analysis, including critical assessment of progress in achieving the existing NAP2020 targets, research on international experience and taking into account global sustainable development challenges: ageing society, innovation, external migration, internal mobility, integration into global value chains etc.
NAP2027 kernel initial offer was covered by the National Development Council on October 4, 2018 and approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on December 11. The development of the offer has led to joint work with sectoral ministries and a permanent dialogue and exchange of views with different groups of interest and expert groups is held.
IN January, THE first round of THE PUBLIC consultation OF NAP2027 was carried out, while the second round of consultations on THE first draft OF NAP2027 was scheduled for April.
The National Development Plan is the main medium-term national development planning document in Latvia. It is the Action Plan for Sustainable Development of Latvia by 2030 (Latvia 2030) and the national development and largest investment road map for seven years.
