Minister of Defence will visit Luznavu at the regional visit
Tomorrow, 5 March, Minister of Defence Artis Pabriks will visit Luznavu Rēzekne municipality in a regional visit to discuss the development of the defence sector in Latgale.
At the beginning of the visit. Pabriks Lūznavas in Manor will give thanks_to Lūznavas manor manager Iveta Balzne and Lūznavas parish head of administration Gatim Pučka for support to the National Guard and successful cooperation in 2020.
While IN Lūznavas military base, the Minister of Defence will meet with the National Guard 3. Latgale Brigade Commander Colonel Gunar's visit to discuss the performance of team tasks, combat capacity development projects and regional military landfills and bases, including THE development OF Lūznavas base.
In the course of the visit, MR Pabriks will also meet with the National Guard's 36 th Battalion Commander, Colonel Oscar Omui, to discuss the development of the battalion and the battalion rota soldier in NATO's special Rapid Response Team (VJTF), which was launched by soldiers on 1 January of that year.
MR Pabriks will also meet with Colonel Erwine Kopeika, head of the National Defence Logistics and Procurement Centre, in order to discuss the reform of the security sector, and will visit the newly established regional office in Luznava, where six jobs are opened and local procurement specialists have started work.
It has already been reported that the National Defence Logistics and Procurement Centre started work on 1 January of that year as a result of structural reorganisation of the National Defence Military Objects and Procurement Centre. The National Defence Logistics and Procurement Centre shall perform public procurement for the needs of the Ministry of Defence and the institutions subordinate thereto, as well as the National Armed Forces, including procurement for the limitation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The military base of the National Armed Forces and Latgale's first professional service soldier in Luznava were opened on 31 May 2018, when the National Armed Forces took over Lūznavas vocational secondary school units and structures in a solemn ceremony.
The National Guard's 36 th Battle Support Battalion is a professional service soldier unit, which is actively assembled and provides extensive opportunities for Latvian citizens to acquire the profession of soldier with further service in Luznava or Daugavpils.
From January of that year, National Guard 36. Battalion warrior warrior soldiers started on-call at nato's Special Rapid Response Team, whose leadership from 1 January was taken over by Polish armed forces. This year, the unit consists of around 6000 soldiers from Poland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Latvia, Great Britain, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, Hungary, which will be on duty for one year and will be prepared to respond to any challenges, if any, in any of NATO's Member States.
The National Guard is the largest structure of national armed forces and the basis of territorial protection. Latvian nationals who have reached 18 years of age but are not more than 55 years of age shall be admitted to the National Guard.
