New People's Chat Collection for Etnographic ensemble “Rikava”

A year ago, THE association Rika started to implement THE LEADER programme “People's outfit as an integral part of the material culture in the activities of the ethnographic ensemble“ Rikava ”. The project was implemented with the support of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) through THE LEADER approach and the implementation of the development strategy of the Rēzekne District Communities. Its total costs amount to LVL 4737 (90% - EAFRD and Latvian State funding, 10% - municipal co-financing).

The aim of the project was to promote the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage by making a new collection of people's clothes for the participants of the ethnographic ensemble “Rikava”.

An essential component of the ethnographic performance is the collective visual image. The realization of the project gave the opportunity to create a uniform suite for the entire collection, taking into account both the differences in generations and the themes of the behaviour. It is a lasting contribution to the preservation of the People's tangible heritage and the promotion and promotion of the People's traditions.

The People's traditions and the People's outfit have become one of the symbols of the national identity that joins the generations today. It is also illustrated by the Etnographic ensemble “Rikava”, which consists of representatives of various generations, ranging from a five-year-old child to a heartbeat in respectable years. The restoration of the people's outfit is one of the biggest projects, waiting for a collective 60-year-old anniversary in 2014.

We've done a lot. It is now time to thank everyone who helped to implement our dreams, those who are untiring people and supporters of the People's Cultural Heritage.

The Etnographic ensemble “Rikava” will be able to represent its parish and lead in the new People's Chats in both local and regional and international cultural events. We have planned to play and play new clothes for children, young people and adults on the traditions of the people's gowns and the wedding traditions not only IN Rikavas parish and in other parish of Rezekne municipality, but in collaboration with Latgale cultural history museum, also in Rezekne.
