During the end of the year, the international project LV-RU-029 “The creation of Latvian-Russian cross-border tourism” “following engineering ideas” began. During the project it is planned to create a new tourism route that will lead through the Rēzekne District (Luznava), the Pleskava District (Pļussa) and the Leningrad area (play). Tourists will be able to familiarise themselves with the industrial heritage of the 19 th century, which is also part of our cultural heritage. It helps to further understand the development and history of society, showing that already 200 years ago, very advanced engineering solutions have been used in this region, which are also used today.
Following the abolition of birth in Russia in the second half of the 19 th century, people were free to move, develop cities and industry. In the 1860 –1870 s, the construction of a large rail network and bridges between Russian governors and Baltic seaports began. One of the most known engineers was the Polish manger, Stanislav Kerbedzs (1810-1899), whose summer residence was at Lūznavas in Manor. His design bridges can still be seen in Rēzekne, Daugavpils, Leningrad and Pleskava, as well as in Petersburg. On the other hand, Pavel Burr (1810-1882) was active in Palussa, but in the play, the underwater designer Nikolai Kudrjavsev (1857-1900).
Currently, the participants of the project select information in the Russian archives for the new tourism route. A 350 km long tourist route is planned to be offered to Latvian and Russian tourism operators in 2021.
Travellers will be offered an opportunity to attend an interactive exhibition on Kerbedza's performance AT Lūznavas in Manor, a renovated Square Square in Pļussa, as well as acquainted with the studies of engineer Kudrjavceva on submarines, walk the well-equipped area on the shore of the lake.
It is hoped that the newly created route will be interesting for both local travellers and those who travel from Europe to Saint Petersburg.
