Wood-rich life
As part of the “Latvian School Finish” project, Sakstagala Jānis KCo. was visiting the creative “house workshop” with the “wood-varied life” programme. The programme - interactive work on trees growing in Latvia, testing of traditional instruments with masters and working with ancient wooden game tools.
In ancient times, people observed that the trees of different species had different characteristics. Some wood is very hard, and it is soft and flexible. The lecturer told pupils that these properties were influenced by what the tree would be used for. It was also possible to make sure of the diversity of wood. We learned that the names and names of the trees were given to people, and in our school they were: Laura and Lauris. The smell of wood smelled like a tree and concluded that the tree was not just wood.
Our ancestors had a special relationship with trees. The tree was not just a material - a tree. It had a deep sense of meaning for the world. Classes 1-4 and 6 students had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the ancient tools used in working with the tree. The children, working with saw, convinced that the sawing of wood in the ancient was a hard work. The pupils made a beautiful piece of particles when they peeled. Chuckling with the axe and carving with a hill, a flower pot that can be used to get out of the school's surroundings. The children had great interest and pleasure. Most liked to make pieces of particles, sawn, play with wooden toys, walk with “wooden legs”, but most liked to fight on a log.
The knowledge and skills acquired will be useful in the learning process, helping Daddy, studying trees in the forest and in the future in construction.
