Teach young people to become more active in the process of strengthening democracy
In order to encourage the society to engage more actively in the process of strengthening democracy, express a constructive view and praise it, the High School of Rezekne and Viļānu secondary school, as well as the University of Rēzekne's High School of Art and Design, commence the project “I don't care” supported by British Council representations in Latvia.
In five online activities, participants will be invited to discuss issues topical in society and not to be afraid to express their views. In the summer, the young people involved in the project will participate in two-day activities in Rezekne municipality AT Maltas secondary school, where they will learn to work with various digital tools in social platforms.
In the first lesson of the project, on 29 March, there will be a conversation with Vladislava Romanov, the film “Daugavpils” created in society. City of opportunity or inability, authors. Vladislava will tell her about the motivation to make such a film and discuss with the participants why such questions about society were accentuated in Daugavpils and how to update them in other cities in Latgale. Vladislava will also tell you how to deal with negative comments and criticism in social networks.
In the second lesson of the project, on 26 April, the discussion on public engagement will continue with the people of Daugavpils.
The idea of the project was created by analysing the results of the Saeima elections and concluding that the elections often involve people who manipulate social networks in a skilled manner, collecting several million “like” or “like” messages of questionable content, and even entering the Saeima. Project participants will learn to critically analyze the processes in society and make meaningful content for different types of messages.
The first two discussions were given the name “Daugavpils ietago Rēzekni”, symbolically showing that young people have already become active in Daugavpils and are now cast in the youth of other Latgale municipalities - Rezekne and municipality.
All stakeholders are invited to participate in the direct discussions.
First discussion on 29 March, at 17.00-18.30, online platform Zoom: https://bit.ly/3lH1DXd
