May singing IN Ozolaines civil parish

On 18 May at 14.00 together with Ozolaines parish folklore, “Zealand” will take place in May songs at the newly formed crucifix Ozolaines parish in Laizāns, while On 25 May at 13.00 “Zealand” folklorists call for the May singing at the Cross of Social Home in Balbians. It should be noted that the May songs are the rituals of the Virgin Mary, particularly popular in Latgale and Upper Land. The singing takes place in the May evenings, mostly on holidays, with people gathering at the open-air crossroads, large and small, in the edge of the road or in village centres, in the nearby graveyard, at home or in the church garden.
