The eighth class students of the Maltese High School decided to participate in the events offered by the museum night and went to Riga under the “Latvian School Finish” programme.
As the centenary of the centennial of Latvia, the theme of the night of museums was “Tourist of the Solomon” - the brave and non-peculiar hero of Rudolf Blauman. “The Solomon Tourist” is a symbol of the People's hero, which allowed us to survive the centuries of Latvia.
The first object visited by students was the Riga Motormuseum. Here, the children were attracted by the exposition of ancient forces and an exhibition of various times and types of beacons. This museum is mentioned by students as one of the most interesting, as it was possible to see Retro cars as well as the latest sports car models.
Class 8a student Indra writes: “I'm interested in history, especially the history of Latvia, so it was interesting to look at the car in which former President of Latvia Karlis Ulmanis was driving. Last century bus models allowed a little look at their parents' childhood. This museum was really interesting, and i'd like to visit it a second time. '
THE MINISTRY of Foreign Affairs of LATVIA had the opportunity to look at the Ministry's lobby, Latvia's first Foreign Minister Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica and exhibitions, as well as exhibitions dedicated to Latvia's participation IN NATO and the European Union.
By attending the Riga Castle, the Latvian President's residence, the pupils had an opportunity to get to the restoration of Riga Castle and look at the restored medicine, find out where THE official residence of THE PRESIDENT of Latvia is located. The exhibition of Latvian city, municipality, parish coat of arms was also considered.
Paula Stradins's medical museum invited him to look at ethnomedical and medieval medical exposures. Students had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with medical developments from the earliest time and compare it with modern medical opportunities.
Among the expeditions offered in the Latvian Natural Museum, the most frequently cited and also in the reviews of pupils were the zoological exhibition on Latvian birds, insects.
During the night of the museum, he visited the Freedom Monument, surveyed the Daugava beach. The pupils were delighted about the night's view of the city: “At night Old Riga is very beautiful, it is like the French capital Paris.” For several pupils it was the first trip to Latvia's capital - Riga. In their feedback, students write that they would like to visit museum night events again.
Thank you for the “Latvian school bag” for the opportunity to visit these interesting and educational museum night events!
