Representatives of Rezekne municipality will participate in a conference on the future of Latgale

On 15 May, a conference on “Latgale – challenges and opportunities” will be held in Daugavpils. It will include representatives of THE LR Saeima, local government management and representatives of the planning regions. The Rēzekne municipality will be represented in this important event by the chairman OF the council Monvīds Švarcs and the head of the development planning department Anna Jaudzema.

The conference-debate will assess the results of the Action Plan for Growth 2012-2013. The plan implemented measures for the creation of new jobs, business development and attraction of investors in Latgale region. The possibility of further development of Latgale will also be discussed in the discussion. It should be noted that the national development plan for 2014-2020 and the regional policy guidelines for 2013-2019 provide a number of support directions for the management of the negative consequences of the proximity of the country border and the reduction of the margin effect, creating additional incentives for business development and promoting cooperation with neighbouring countries.
