Meeting roses in the city
On 16 November, in the framework of the “Latvian School Finish ''” initiative, students of the 6 th and 8 th grade of the elementary school of Latvia went to an excursion to Latgale cultural history museum to participate in the museum pedagogical programme “meeting in the city of roses”. The pupils with enthusiasm sat on the bus and went on their way for new knowledge.
Together with the museum pedagogy, Inga Kevin pupils went into a small excursion along Rēzekne. The starting point for excursion was the monument “united for Latvia!”. The students spoke very well of the symbols of the monument and were able to respond successfully to the questions.
Then we went to a monument to the centuries of Latgale Congress. On the way to the monument, the museum pedagogy told about the history of the city of Rezekne, and what buildings were in the last century. For example, students learned where the eagle pharmacy was, the cinema “Diana”, with which people moved in ancient times.
After the excursion, everyone went back to the museum, where they all played one of the legends of Rezekne Castle - Queen Volkenberg and its three daughters - Lucia, rose and Maria. The Queen divided the three cities, the pupils had to guess which city her mother had allocated to each daughter.
In conclusion, the pupils looked at the exhibition about the city of Rezekne and learned why the name of Rēzekne was once Rossiten.
With good mood and positive emotions, pupils and teacher went back to school. Thank Ingai Kate for the exciting narrative of Rezekne.
