Search for hotel exchange pupils from Argentina, Mexico, Thailand and Germany

As a result of this summer, the youth organisation Youth for Understanding programme will bring exchange pupils from various countries of the world who have chosen to spend their year of exchange. The aim of the exchange year is to enable young people of secondary school to learn a new environment, learn another culture, learn Latvian. In order for young people to be in one year, the exchange pupils attend local schools and live in hotel families.

We are currently calling for families who would be willing to receive an exchange student from Argentina, Mexico, Thailand or Germany in their homes for one year. All exchange students who have chosen to travel to Latvia within the framework of their exchange year are active young people who want to learn more about Latvia, learn Latvian language and show additional interest directly about the history of our land, our culture, especially the economy dances, while the exchange pupils from Thailand are particularly hoping for real and white Latvian winters so that they can build their first snowman in life!

The role of the hotel family during the year of exchange is very important. It is an opportunity for the family to gain international experience, to explore other culture in their home, as well as to improve their skills and knowledge of foreign languages. The task of the hotel family is to support young people on a daily basis, to help integrate into Latvian society, as well as to sleep and feed.

Every family who wants to experience such experience and who has the opportunity to take an exchange student for a year can become a guest family. We call for positive and open families throughout Latvia. Exchange students don't need luxurious apartments but friendly attitudes and beds, a room young man can share with a guest brother or a guest from Latvia. Without food, which is accompanied by an exchange student with a hotel family, the day-to-day spending is covered by the real family of an exchange student.

“Youth for Understanding” or “Youth on Understanding” is one of the largest student exchange programmes in the world, enabling high school students to spend one school year in one of the world's countries, living in a local family and visiting a local school, in such a way as to familiarise themselves with the daily, traditions and culture of the host country. More than 7000 pupils across the world are participating in programmes organised annually BY YFU. THE YFU Office has been active in Latvia since 1991 as a non-governmental, religious and politically neutral learning exchange programme based on voluntary engagement.
