Latvian cereal coorperative VACS upgraded grain transhipment point Viļānos

Since 2016, when an agreement was reached with VAS “Latvijas dzelzceļš” on the use of THE Viļānu station, the “VAKS” COOPERATIVE COMPANY is active IN Viļānos, alley Street, where the transhipment of grain from road freight wagons is carried out. On average, around 300 grain wagons are loaded in the season, which provides a more favourable transport of the region to the ports of the region.  

In 2017, in collaboration with THE Viļānu municipality, which encouraged the joint development of “Tevenans SEZ”, it was decided to continue the operation and develop the logistics point of agricultural products. A draft of the transhipment point was developed for several years and an agreement was reached with “Latvijas dzelzceļš” on the sale of track on THE VACS and the installation of the necessary equipment and grain towers. 

A construction project will be implemented in 2022./2023, which provides for the installation of modern and environmental equipment which will significantly improve the logistics process of agricultural products, improve the working conditions of people and be sustainable in their activities. The works are planned to be launched in the year and be completed on the new 2023 harvest!
