Environmental education camp for young people with hearing disabilities – “in the silence of natural voice”
Due to the financial support of the Latvian Environment Protection Fund, the association “tourist club Dinamo”, on 13-21 June, the “young Dinamietis” association implemented environmental education camp “in the silence of natural voice”.
Nine days in Latgale's heart at Razna Lake, 15 young people from Riga boarding school children with hearing disabilities and Valmiera's deaf boarding school students learned to hear Latvian nature in silence, one another and people who love what they do, experience and knowledge. The direction of the camp was visual communication, but the objectives: to educate young people in a comprehensive manner in the environmental issues of Latvia; to provide the group with a knowledgeable travel in the territory of Razna National Park; to develop the verbal and non-verbal communication skills of participants with hearing impairments.
There was little in the rooms, because the time, like nature, lingered. The program was saturated: morning running; sports and other games; photographer lecture and plenary; hosting on the farm “autumo foal hills”; movement of movements with team-making elements; lectures on waters, fish, insects, plants, soil, beekeeping, potdship, clay, forests, Latvia's approaching centuries; visiting activity; boating; fishing; bird ring; boating; fishing; birdring and search; exploration of the areas of the National Park of Razna; discussion; discussion; Drawing; building; dancing; sound waves; and simply warm and fun together.
On the last day, tired but emotionally saturated were all – participants, teachers, organisers. The camp managed to be good and memorable, so the participants rightly hoped for a follow-up.
The camp leaders say sincere thanks to everyone who participated and helped to implement this project!
