13 entrepreneurs projects – business development in Rezekne municipality
On April 20, the first 13 contracts were concluded in the municipality of Rezekne with entrepreneurs who have received support for the establishment and development of the “Rural Economy Development in Rēzekne District” (LEARN) competition in the territory of Rezekne District. The competition was launched by 64 existing and potential entrepreneurs with a total demand for LEARN funding of eur 155 919.00, of which the Commission decided to approve 13 project applications. Supported projects represent a wide range of areas: agriculture (beekeeping, rabbit, garlic farming), service sector (car repair services, construction, veterinary medical services), artistic activities – manufacturing of promotional materials, souvenirs and design elements, works of work), domestic production, tourism.
Among the supported entrepreneurs are representatives from Berzins (2 projects), Ilzeskalna, Nautrene, Ozolaine, Nagles (2 projects), Makoņkalna, foam, Sakstagala and Gaigalavas civil parish (2 projects). The support for the project “Further development of the Ecostore by entering the Rēzekne District Development Programme” has also received Ivetas Ieva Aleksanes SIA “Aleksii”, whose eco-store “green” the products produced by local farmers are marketed in the city of Rezekne.
As the winners of the competition, the President of the Rēzekne municipality, Monweed Schwartz, emphasized that this is a new and legitimate way to support the self-government in its territory. “THE LEARN Foundation brings together all the parish of Rezekne municipality, investing in its financing, each of its own budget, thus promoting double responsibility -- each parish administration is aware of its obligation to support local business, while the entrepreneur feels responsibility in front of its native parish.”
THE amount of THE LEARN funding requested in the approved project applications exceeded the amount of money provided for in the tender rules (EUR 30000.00), so that additional funding of eur 418.01 was allocated to ensure the implementation of all approved projects.
The evaluation Commission was composed of representatives of the non-governmental sector, the local government, the economic operators, as well as the representatives of the municipality of Rezekne. The role of the President OF the Commission was carried out by Edgars Blinovs, Chairman of the MANAGEMENT BOARD OF the Foundation, as the members of the Commission were members of the Council of the Council of the European Union of Rezekne, Arvīds Dunskis, President of the Development and Planning Division of the municipality of Rezekne, Brigita Arbidane, Member of the Rēzekne District Council Kaspars melnis and owner of the individual merchant “Izidori” Valdis Zujs.
By describing each of the projects, the LEARN Senior Advisor, Dina Butler, noted that these ideas are not only innovative and interesting, but also provide a public-interest contribution to the local area. Some projects, such as the businessman Christapa Vilnius project “Creation of car service in Berzgales parish”, promise to build the new jobs that are necessary for the municipality, while the ideas of the children of the children of Anita Cairièche, the children of Evita Šķesteres, pupils of the municipality of Evita Šķesteres, the foam parish, will create a unique product that will potentially contribute to the recognition of the parish/municipality at regional, national and wider level. It was also assessed whether the funding allocated to the project and the investments made constitute preconditions for the development and development of sustainable business, contributing to an increase in the turnover of the economic activity concerned.
“The main message after the conclusion of the competition is that there are many working people in Rezekne's municipality who see their development potential directly in business,” – said Daina Butler, calling on those who did not receive support for their ideas this year, not to be plunged in the bushes, but to start the competition next year, as well as to seek other opportunities for the financial support of their project.
