European Youth Charles Big Prize 2018 – Polish project “Worcation”
A formal ceremony in Aachen, Germany, is presented at the European Youth Charles Prize 2018. Polish young people with the project “Worcation” have become the winners, getting 7500 euros in the prize. The second place was acquired by Italian young people with the project “Juvenilia”, and the third - Maltas project - the film “Unarrive”.

1 st place winners: Worcation (Poland)
The aim of the project is to call on young Europeans to discover the history behind the second world war concentration camps. The “Worcation” project enables young people from different countries to work in the territory of the German war-based concentration camp Stalag VIII A on the banks of Nice River. After acquiring professional experience, volunteers work as archaeologists or have the opportunity to interact with the families of former prisoners.
2 nd place winners: Juvenilia (Italy)
“Juvenilia” aims to raise interest in opera, ballet and theatre among people under 35. It organises cultural exchanges in various European cities and bones for ticket prices so that the performances are made more accessible to young people. The participants of the project have the opportunity to go into the scenes, meet artists, enjoy excursions around the city, and meet people of similar thinking from other countries.
3 rd place winners: Do not arrive: story of Farah Abdullahi Abdi (Malta)
The new Somalian blogger Farah Abdullahi Abdi has written two books on the difficulties faced by the refugee in Europe. She wants to show that refugees have not arrived in Europe to create chaos but are ready to accept Europe and promote its development. She has crossed Europe, talking to pupils about her life, offering them a different picture of what refugees and what they might have been reading against immigration-based sources.
The European Youth Carl's big prize aims to promote European awareness among young people and their participation in European integration projects. The award is awarded to youth projects that promote understanding, promote the emergence of a common European identity and provide practical examples of the lives of Europeans as one of the members of the Community.
Every year, national juries in 28 EU Member States determine the winner at national level. They are then assessed by the European jury. All 28 national winners have the opportunity to present their project to a wide, international audience award ceremony in Aachen, Germany.
The prize for the best project is eur 7500, for a second place – EUR 5 000, for a third – eur 2500; the winners also obtain an opportunity to attend the European Parliament in Strasbourg or Brussels.
The Grand Prize of Charles was founded in 2008 by the European Parliament and the Aachen City International Charles Foundation.
