The fence in Latgale rural area has already served not only as an element of the area of the territory, but also as a symbol of homelessness and beauty. In view of the fencing of the museum area, it was necessary to take into account that the type of fence should be included in the common rural landscape. So the association “all you, Francis Trasun” had an idea of making and setting up the ethnographic weasel fence. Part of the museum area is already surrounded by a flame alley, part of the wolf hedgehog, while in the place where the most frequent events take place – the sauna and the fire area in the surroundings - a weasel fence is installed.
On 28 November 2014, work on the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) project No 13-01-LL23-l413201-000038 “Installation of the ethnographic fence in Latgale rural area” was concluded, “Rural economy diversification and the development of quality of life in the area of implementation of local development strategies”. The project was presented at the disposal of the Development Strategy of the “Rēzekne District Communities Partnership” “support for the diversification of public activities for local residents”, the funding received 8381.59 EURO, the aid intensity OF 100%, since the society has acquired the status of public benefit and co-financing from the municipality did not need to be requested.
As part of the project, a hazelnut fence was installed at 180 m, the works were performed by Valdis Grebej – an artisanal. The construction works of the fence were fast and qualitative, and they could also be watched by visitors of the museum AT THE 150 th anniversary event of F. Trassun, thus introducing the skills of ancient trade. As a result, the Etnographic Fence installed complements Latgale's rural cultural environment.
