In total, more than 12 500 people have been living in the care centres in Latvia. Involvement in “angel mail” is a voluntary work of social care centres: each seniors must be consulted, explain how the project works, listen to wishes and enter the information in the database, and, above all, obtain the consent of each person that his name will be published in the gift list.
Anna Beitane, THE social worker OF THE Maltas Social Care Centre (SAC), tells her that she has been looking at this event with some scepticism and disbelief last year. “What kind of strange people will send me gifts!” There were also those who were not willing to make their wishes publicly available. But when the gifts came up, there was so much joy that the believers would have betrayed their fingers, and they were all one of them for the gifts that year.
“In one of the gift packages, the sender, a lady from Riga, had added a sachet of silver confeta. The enthusiasm with which it was scattered around is not to be described! 'says Anna. It is possible, therefore, that, in the list of gifts that have been applied for this year, everyone has agreed to receive a surprise, that is, not a previously known gift, but something unexpected.
However, this year, Maltas SAC is special with the fact that a Christmas man who has already booked the supply of all forty (40) gifts in the middle of December has arrived in mid-December. This means that there is a company or organization committed to preparing gifts directly FOR Maltas SAC residents. The League of League says that the Christmas gift project has already signed up and is preparing gifts for 25 companies and members of the members, and continues to apply for new ones. Some of them publish photos, how gifts are packaged, letters written, some want to remain anonymous, but unequivocally co-operative work brings together a collective, strengthens ownership and creates a feeling that you do something meaningful and meaningful.
Ilona Wigule, the Rēzekne municipality, is a social worker of the Sherjan old people, says that he was first involved in the project “angel mail” last year. It was doubtful whether all the residents of the nurse would get their wish, but that was exactly what happened! The leader of the school lasted Lizdica, adding that the festival and not only festival seniors are visited by both pupils and kindergartens, and that is a special joy for both and the other.
Social entrepreneurship is an unusual concept for the time being, and the society must explain the difference between a normal company and a social enterprise from charity. “Angel mail” is not a one-month stock that invites you to get up before Christmas, on the eve of the new year when the good work is on the list of mandatory cases. The league is quite harsh, “Does when the clock stole midnight, people in social care centres disappear as they have been?” Disappear? I want to ask those who are trying to do good jobs for Christmas every year. “So“ angel mail ”works throughout the year – when you enter the website, we see the next day anniversaries, there is a chance to send a warm letter to one of the people living in the social care centre or send it to the public.
“Angel mail” in the big record book of Christmas grandfather's workshop reads: together the residents of social care centres - 8604; registered gifts - 4198; free gifts - 4406, including the Rēzekne municipality in Sherjan's old people's home, still free 19 gifts out of 50, the “Pilcene” branch of the nurse is provided with gifts for all residents.
