Taste, smell, dance, and sing Latgale in Riga!

The Latgale Planning Region, in cooperation with Latgale municipalities and Latgale thematic villages, project LV-RU-018 “Non-border crafts” of the Latvian-Russian cross-border cooperation programme 2014-2020, organizes the event “Latgale Day Riga”, which will be held on 15 August 2020 at the area of independence from plkst.. 10.00 to 19.00, providing a unique opportunity for Riga residents and guests to familiarise themselves with Latgale region, its multicoloured culture and traditions.
Latgale will be promoted as an attractive tourist destination and Citadele. Latgale's day will include employees of Latgale Planning Region, traditions, and Latgale craftsmen working in various sectors – ceramics, weavers, hills, bakers, pinners, as well as entrepreneurs. It will be possible to get acquainted with the works of the artist of Pleskava through video stories.
On the day of Latgale, it will be possible to observe both the work of the podiers with clay, the weaving of the weavers in the stalls, the drying of the hill in the hill, the pinching skills of the cliffs and the weaving, and the purchase of the masters of the post: traditional Latgale ceramics, plaiting, knitted and woven things, wooden spoons, etc. The market will also be able to purchase benefits from Latgale thematic villages – scented coarse bread, domestic cheese, smoked meat, domestic sausages and fat, domestic wine, a real rural barley, herbal tea, as well as a taste of soup from the large household boiler.
In the light of the pleasant festival atmosphere, the Latvian language of the TV show Oscar Berzins will be brightened every minute. Riga towers will be accompanied by Latgalian music, in which visitors will be able to paralyse the cobbles.
The events of the events are also encouraged by the smallest, because all day-long creative workshops like adults and children are: clay school, flower building from natural materials, wooden games, dry beast at the peasant of the latmeat, basket-pinning workshop. A recreational tent will be available during the entire event.
Every guest will have the opportunity to consult the tourism and information centre specialists, while it will be possible for employees of Latgale planning region to find out about opportunities for entrepreneurship and repatriation in Latgale.
At the end of the event there will be a singing of Latgale daily visitors, with the traditional farewell “Pi Distance long golds”.
It will be the seventh “Latgale Day in Riga”.
