THE LEARN Project Competition received 64 applications

On 16 February, the submission of project applications to the municipality of Rezekne and the establishment of a foundation “rural economy for the development of rural economy in Rezekne municipality” (LEARN) was concluded in order to receive financing for commencement and/or development of entrepreneurship in the territory of Rezekne District. In total, 64 applications have been received, 34 of which are in the agricultural sector and 30 in other areas such as domestic production, tourism, carpentry, veterinary practice, and the development of artistic services – floristics, ceramics, presentations and Souvenirs. The most active were Nautrēnu (9 applications), Ozolmuižas (8 applications) and Gaigalavas (6 applications) for parish and potential entrepreneurs, while project applications were not received from Rikavas, Sherjan, Griškānu and Čornajas parish territories.

The total amount requested (excluding co-financing by the project applicant) is EUR 155 919. In view of the fact that only EUR 30 000 ARE actually available for the financing of projects within the framework of this competition, the evaluation of the competition is expected to be very serious for the Commission to assess all applications and to support the most promising ideas, the implementation of which will contribute to the development of entrepreneurship and create preconditions for employment growth in the municipality of Rezekne.

The results of the project competition are planned to be announced by 23 March of that year so that the beneficiary entrepreneurs can start implementing their project plans in April.
