Latvian horse breeding day of Latgale region Untums

On June 21, the Latvian horse breeders' day, which was organised by the association “Latvian breed growers' association” within the scope of the national rural network project activities, took place in the Horn of Rēzekne. The Latvian breed-type horses, which correspond to the genetic resources of Latvia, as well as their daily use, were promoted. More than 30 horse growers from all Latgale participated in the event, as well as around 400 visitors.
The demonstrations could see the hauls of the driving type, the chains and their descendants in the outlet, as well as the horses in improvised rural works, the removal of obstacles, the driving and the rating. There were interesting special pressures “Preilene riding” and “work in reins with a young horse”. The interruption of border guard service dogs and children with ponies were very interesting.
The purpose of the project is the analysis of the equine population of the Latvian variety type in order to promote the conservation programme of genetic resources animals, as well as to find economically advantageous applications of different types of equidae in the fields.
